University of St Andrews Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) PGR Scholarship

The University of St Andrews Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) PGR Scholarship is a doctoral funding opportunity for UK-domiciled applicants from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds.

This scholarship supports a full-time, in-person PhD in the 2026/27 academic year across participating subject areas including Computer Science, Geography and Sustainable Development, History, Medicine, Modern Languages, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology and Neuroscience, Social Anthropology, and the Business School.

Funding includes full Home UK tuition fees, an annual stipend of £19,775, and a guaranteed reservation in University accommodation (accommodation fees are not covered). The award lasts for 3.5 years.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must identify as BAME, be domiciled in the UK for fee purposes, apply after submitting an eligible PhD course application, and not already hold a doctoral degree. Applicants must also not be applying for a joint degree with another institution.

Assessment is based on academic merit and financial need. Required supporting documents include a personal statement, household income evidence, transcripts, a research proposal or equivalent statement, and a CV/resumé.

Applications open 25 May 2026 and close 29 June 2026. The outcome is expected by late July 2026.
