About this position
2 PhD positions are available in Synthetic Organic Chemistry and Homogeneous Catalysis at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, within the Tortosa Group. The projects focus on developing novel synthetic methodologies for building molecular complexity in a sustainable way.
PhD 1 will work on novel asymmetric catalytic transformations using organoboron compounds. PhD 2 will develop asymmetric methodologies to prepare sp3-rich building blocks with potential use as bioisosteres. The positions are supervised by Prof. Mariola Tortosa, Dr. Jaime Martín, and Dr. Thomas Rigotti.
Eligibility highlights: completed or nearly completed MSc in Chemistry; background in Organic and/or Organometallic Chemistry; experience with organic compound analysis, especially NMR; experience in synthetic molecular chemistry under inert gas is advantageous; good English; previous international experience is desirable.
