About this position
Nanyang Technological University’s School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology is seeking a Research Fellow to join the Zhong Group, an interdisciplinary research team at the interface of organometallic and organic chemistry.
The project focuses on developing new generations of transition metal catalysts for novel organic transformations. The successful researcher will investigate asymmetric transition metal catalysis, asymmetric catalysis, and organic methodology, with particular emphasis on innovative stereoselective catalytic transformations using the group’s chiral catalyst library.
The role combines independent synthetic organic chemistry research with catalytic reaction design, experimental evaluation, data analysis, and scientific dissemination. The Research Fellow will also contribute to mentoring junior researchers, sharing laboratory expertise, presenting progress at group meetings and project reviews, and preparing research results for publication.
The research environment involves advanced characterization and laboratory methods, including NMR, mass spectrometry, chiral GC/HPLC, polarimetry, IR, UV/Vis spectroscopy, Schlenk techniques, and glovebox operations. The position is based at NTU’s Main Campus in Singapore.
