IMMPACT LAB at Virginia Tech's Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering is recruiting a PhD student for Fall 2026. The lab specializes in additive manufacturing, multiscale mechanics, and mechanistic AI/ML, focusing on developing intelligent algorithms for materials and manufacturing process design. Research themes include scalable agentic AI for resource-constrained applications, separable neural architectures for reduced order models and digital twins, advanced manufacturing processes, computational mechanics at scale, and multimodal sensing and data fusion.
