About this position

Ghent University is offering a temporary full-time academic assistant position in the Department of Business Informatics and Operations Management within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. The post is based in Ghent, Belgium, and includes a strong research component: at least 50% of the appointment will be devoted to academic research in preparation for a doctoral dissertation.

The successful candidate will also support teaching activities in Business Informatics and contribute to internal and external departmental services. The research environment is closely aligned with business informatics and related areas such as business process management, ontologies and semantic techniques, enterprise architecture and modelling, analysis and design of business models and business ecosystems, data analytics for business applications, and artificial intelligence for business applications.

Applicants should hold a relevant Master's degree in Business Engineering, Business Informatics, Business Economics with an IT/MIS/business informatics specialisation, Computer Science, or Software Engineering. The degree must be completed by the start of the appointment. For diplomas awarded outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required or proof of application must be provided. Experience in teaching, additional training, or conference participation is considered an advantage, and strong teaching and communication skills are expected.

The appointment is for two years and may be renewed twice for two additional years subject to positive evaluation, within the maximum Flemish Community appointment rules. The earliest start date is 1 November 2026. Salary is according to scale AAP3, and staff benefit from university training opportunities, paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, ecocheques, and other fringe benefits.
