About this position
University of Wroclaw is recruiting for a research-only assistant professor (post-doc) position at the Department of Management Psychology, Institute of Psychology, Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences. This is an NCN OPUS 26 project postdoctoral opening focused on psychological sciences, with a strong interdisciplinary link to cognitive psychology, behavioural economics, and social psychology.
The project investigates reputation management in human decision-making. Rather than treating departures from normatively optimal choices as mere errors, the study tests whether people sometimes choose strategically to protect reputation or avoid signalling undesirable traits. The research will develop and validate a new measure based on the Process Dissociation technique, separating two components: N (ability to identify and apply the normatively correct solution) and R (sensitivity to reputational concerns).
The postdoctoral researcher will contribute to all three phases of the project: scale development and piloting, correlational validation with established individual-difference measures, and experimental validation using paradigms such as role-playing, trust games, and group decision-making. Responsibilities include study design and programming, data collection, quantitative analysis, manuscript preparation, and co-authorship on publications. The role also includes supporting the Principal Investigator with project administration, reporting, and coordination.
The position is offered as a full-time temporary appointment for 24 months, with a planned start date of 4 January 2027 (to be confirmed). The competition is open to candidates meeting the statutory requirements of the University of Wroclaw and Polish higher education law.
