About this position
The University of Oxford’s Department of Paediatrics is seeking a Computational Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Cortes-Ciriano group and contribute to the ERC-funded BrokenChromosomes project.
The project investigates the mechanisms underlying the onset and evolution of paediatric solid tumours, with particular emphasis on cancer cell plasticity and immune escape. The successful researcher will drive the computational component of the project, conducting computational data analyses and developing an independent research direction within a multidisciplinary team.
The Cortes-Ciriano group combines large-scale computational analyses and computational methods development with novel experimental technologies. Its research addresses the molecular basis of paediatric solid tumours, mechanisms of immune escape and relapse, cancer genomics, chromothripsis, and nanopore sequencing. The group works closely with laboratories and clinicians in the United Kingdom and internationally, and contributes to national paediatric oncology initiatives including the Stratified Medicine Paediatrics programme.
The fellow will join the Medical Sciences Division and benefit from scientific guidance, mentorship, specialised training in computational cancer genomics, and opportunities for collaboration. The role is designed to support the researcher’s development toward scientific independence within an internationally connected paediatric oncology research environment.
