About this position

Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche, through the Istituto di Scienza e Tecnologie dell’Informazione “Alessandro Faedo” in Pisa, is offering one research contract within the self-funded IMAGINE – Intelligent systeMs for multimodAl imaGe and sIgNal processing programme.

The project sits in the area of Computer Science and focuses on research and development in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and multimodal data analysis for interpreting complex indoor and outdoor scenarios. The selected researcher will work on methods that combine environmental signals with physiological and motor data, contributing to a broader effort on intelligent systems for image and signal processing.

The role is research-oriented and includes developing bio-inspired and probabilistic AI models for uncertainty quantification in pattern recognition, exploring generative AI approaches, implementing computer vision solutions aimed at inclusion and human-behaviour monitoring, and testing Explainable AI methods to improve transparency and trustworthiness in data analysis. Results are expected to be disseminated through publications and international workshops as part of the IMAGINE programme.

The scientific responsibility for the programme is held by Davide Moroni at ISTI-CNR. The contract is hosted in a strong national research environment at CNR’s information science institute in Pisa, with work aligned to the institute’s ongoing research activity in intelligent systems and multimodal analysis.

The call states that the position is supported by the IMAGINE project and runs for two years.
