About this position
This doctoral position is based in the Department of Psychology at Mid Sweden University and centers on a research project at the intersection of social psychology and sociolinguistics. The project investigates how accents function as social signals and how foreign accents shape social perception, attitudes, emotions, and behaviours.
The research addresses themes of stereotypes, discrimination, and social inclusion from both Swedish and international perspectives, with a consistent gender perspective throughout. It is framed as an interdisciplinary project connected to work and organisational psychology, political science, gender studies, and research on integration and belonging.
Methodologically, the project is primarily built around experimental studies and psychometric approaches, with the possibility of using neuroscientific methods as well. The doctoral student will work in a close and collegial department environment, benefiting from strong supervision and an internationally oriented research setting.
The role emphasizes supervised research leading to a doctoral dissertation, alongside participation in seminars, doctoral courses, and academic activities within the department. In the later stages of the dissertation, there may be room to develop an additional sub-study within the project’s broader themes.
The position combines research with limited teaching and administrative duties, and is intended to support the development of independence in planning, implementation, and scientific communication.
