About this position
Wearable Biofeedback Systems for Cardiovascular Health is a doctoral project at the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Health Systems at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. The position sits within the third-cycle subject Technology and Health and is embedded in the growing Intelligent Heart Technology Lab, which develops and studies implantable and wearable technologies for cardiovascular applications.
The project focuses on the physical mechanisms behind the beneficial physiological effects of cardiac locomotor coupling. The doctoral student will work on a research programme that brings together advanced signal processing, physics-informed data science, embedded systems, and modelling of cardiovascular physiology. A central part of the work is the development and validation of technologies in human-subject studies, linking engineering methods with real-world biomedical application.
The lab’s broader research environment includes wearable systems, blood pressure sensors, artificial hearts, and soft robotic technologies for the heart. The project is also highly interdisciplinary: the student will collaborate closely with clinicians at Karolinska Institute, supporting translational research aimed at innovations with practical health impact.
The supervisory team includes Associate Professor Seraina Dual at KTH and Associate Professor Eric Rullman at Karolinska Institute.
