Energy transition, environmental decision-making Aberdeen University in United Kingdom

A fully funded PhD position is available at the University of Aberdeen as part of the TRANSECTS Project, a UKRI-funded initiative focused on energy transitions in coastal communities. The successful candidate will develop innovative frameworks for inter- and transdisciplinary research to support transformative environmental decision-making.

The project will integrate natural and social sciences with arts and humanities, using a spatial-temporal lens to examine marine energy transitions and their impact on coastal sustainability and resilience. Case studies include the Humber Estuary, Orkney Islands, and east-coast Scotland. The PhD will use these as examples and may also assess other projects within the Resilient UK Coastal Communities and Seas Programme.

The position covers UK tuition fees and provides an annual stipend. Applicants should have a background or interest in interdisciplinary research related to energy transition, environmental science, social science, or arts.
