?? Job opportunity for a PhD position in English historical linguistics ??

Are you interested in starting your academic career with a PhD in English linguistics? Then you have the chance to join Prof. Dr. Eva Zehentner and her team in her SNSF funded project 'Who did What to Whom: Strategies of Argument Disambiguation in Early English'.

The project revisits the presumed shift from synthetic to analytic means of expression between Old and Middle English. To investigate this, the project draws on recent methodological advances concerning (a) the statistical modelling of language change, and (b) the application of NLP-based tools to historical corpus data.

If you have an excellent MA degree in the field of English linguistics (or a related field) and strong interest in working in historic English linguistics and with corpora/quantitative data analysis, this might be the position for you!

The position (80%) is initially for 3 years, with the possibility of a one-year extension.

Full funding including tuition fees and living expenses is available for this position. The scholarship covers all educational costs and provides a monthly stipend.
