About this position
Uppsala University is advertising an ERC-funded postdoctoral position in tropical pharmacology within the TRANSPHORM project. The project focuses on developing novel pharmacological strategies to interrupt transmission of visceral leishmaniasis and PKDL, combining clinical pharmacology, tropical medicine, vector biology, clinical trials, entomology, and pharmacometric modelling.
The role is based at the Department of Pharmacy at Uppsala University, Sweden, with field visits and collaboration in India. The successful candidate will help design and coordinate sandfly challenge studies (xenodiagnosis), prepare a cluster randomized trial for transmission prevention, analyse complex datasets, and contribute to integrated modelling of pharmacokinetics, parasite dynamics, and entomological data.
This is a fully funded postdoctoral appointment supported by the European Research Council. The position is temporary for 2 years with a possible 1-year extension, full-time. The project offers strong computational infrastructure, publication support, mentorship, and leadership opportunities, including mentoring PhD students.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in clinical pharmacology, drug development, infectious diseases, pharmacometrics, entomology, tropical medicine, or a related field; the degree should normally have been obtained within the last three years. Experience with clinical trials, international collaborations, structured project delivery, and excellent English communication is required. Skills in R/Python, NONMEM, transmission modelling, human challenge studies, qPCR, and entomological fieldwork are desirable.
Application deadline: 2 August 2026. Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, publication list, degree certificates, PhD thesis outline, short research statement, and two referees’ names plus recommendation letters via Uppsala University’s recruitment system.
