About this position
This fellowship is based in the Division of Quantitative Methods and Modeling within the FDA’s Center for Drug Evaluation and Research in Silver Spring, Maryland. The group works on regulatory science and quantitative research that supports the development and review of generic drugs, with a strong emphasis on modeling, simulation, data analysis, and data mining for public health decision-making.
Participants will join research activities spanning a wide range of modern quantitative approaches for drug evaluation. The project highlights modeling and simulation for solid oral products, bioequivalence assessment, and biowaivers, as well as mechanistic and data-driven approaches for complex generic products. The work also includes population pharmacokinetics, PK/PD modeling, clinical trial simulation, and methods development for locally acting products administered by non-oral routes.
The fellowship also offers opportunities to work on computational methods that improve FDA review efficiency and scientific infrastructure. Areas mentioned include scientific computing, data infrastructure, analysis tools, artificial intelligence, machine learning, large language models, and integration of these tools with conventional pharmacokinetic modeling. The environment is described as fast-paced and collaborative, with senior researchers focused on advancing quantitative methods for generic drug regulation.
The mentor for this opportunity is Andrew Babiskin.
