The Nanomaterials and System Laboratory at Jeju National University, Republic of Korea, is offering 10 fully funded PhD positions for Fall 2026 through the prestigious GKS R&D track. The laboratory, led by Prof. Sang-Jae Kim, focuses on advanced research in electrochemical energy conversion and storage systems, including aluminum-based energy storage, seawater electrolysis, green hydrogen production, and next-generation battery systems. Research areas span hybrid electrolyzer systems, aluminum electrochemical storage, and innovative energy harvesting technologies, with strong emphasis on nanomaterials and interdisciplinary approaches.

Applicants should have a master's degree in Physics, Chemistry, Mechatronics, Polymer Science, Materials Science, Nanoscience, Nanotechnology, or a closely related field. Only those with official degree certificates are eligible (provisional certificates not accepted). Strong academic records, prior publications, and recommended IELTS/TOEFL scores are expected. Candidates must be highly motivated, independent, and collaborative.

The GKS scholarship provides comprehensive support: one round-trip airfare, initial settlement allowance, health insurance, 100% tuition fee waiver, and a monthly stipend (1.3–1.6M KRW/month) for up to three years after a mandatory first-year Korean language program.
