Fully Funded PhD Positions in Sustainable Concrete Structures: Bridge Reuse and Lifespan Extension University of Luxembourg in

Two fully funded PhD positions are open at the University of Luxembourg in the Sustainable Concrete Structures Laboratory for a project on bridge reuse and lifespan extension. The positions are part of a large-scale European project on sustainable infrastructure management and involve full-scale applications of innovative solutions in civil infrastructure.

The first PhD topic focuses on the reuse of prestressed precast bridge elements, developing a reuse-to-design methodology for concrete girders. The second topic focuses on bridge strengthening with UHPFRC, using a multi-scale approach for regenerative intervention. These projects are well suited to candidates interested in structural engineering, civil engineering, concrete structures, and sustainable infrastructure.

The lab is looking for applicants with a strong background in structural engineering and a real interest in working in a multidisciplinary and multinational research environment. The positions are based in Belval, Luxembourg, with a planned start date of 1 October 2026.
