About this position

Devang Mehta’s lab at KU Leuven is preparing future PhD and postdoc opportunities in plant virology, interactomics, and crop protection research. The team has just received additional support from Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) for a new SBO (Strategic Basic Research) project called VIROPROX, worth EUR 1.7 million.

The project focuses on finding non-insecticidal solutions to plant virus diseases in sugarbeet and tomato, combining genetic and chemical approaches. It is being developed in collaboration with Herve Vanderschuren, Dominique Audenaert (VIB), and Kris De Jonghe (ILVO), with input from industry and research advisory partners.

The post does not announce an open application yet, but it clearly states that new PhD/postdoc positions will be announced soon. Interested candidates should follow the Mehta Lab website and KU Leuven updates for the formal vacancy notice, eligibility criteria, and application instructions.

Research keywords: plant virology, interactomics, crop disease resistance, sugarbeet, tomato, genetic solutions, chemical solutions, translational research.
