About this position
HIGRADE is the Helmholtz Interdisciplinary Graduate Programme for Environmental Research at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, run in cooperation with partner universities and partner programmes.
The programme is designed for doctoral researchers and brings them into a structured research environment with access to training and support beyond the individual project. Doctoral researchers at UFZ can take part in professional and transferable skills training delivered by UFZ staff and external trainers, and can combine courses to support both their scientific work and career development.
The programme emphasises interdisciplinary research in environmental science, with state-of-the-art infrastructure and a vibrant research environment. Doctoral researchers are supported by an advisory committee and the PhD Support, and can also draw on additional services such as statistics support, bioinformatics service, research data management, family support office and international office support.
To become a member of HIGRADE, applicants first need to secure a doctoral position at UFZ. Once accepted as a doctoral researcher and assigned an adviser, they join the graduate programme and its wider research and training environment.
