About this position
Radboud University is advertising a Junior Postdoc Position in Multimodal Language, Attention and RIFT within the Faculty of Social Sciences in the Communicative Brain lab. The project sits at the intersection of language processing, multimodal communication, cognitive neuroscience, and neurolinguistics, with a strong focus on how the brain integrates speech with visual cues such as gestures and lip movements.
The postdoctoral researcher will work with EEG and MEG data, rapid invisible frequency tagging (RIFT), naturalistic video materials, and advanced analytical approaches such as MVPA and mTRFs. The role also involves developing novel methods to provide causal evidence for neural oscillations in multimodal integration and weighting during language comprehension.
Eligibility highlights: a completed PhD in neurolinguistics is required, preferably with experience related to attentional trade-offs and speech planning during comprehension. Applicants should have demonstrable experience setting up and conducting RIFT-EEG experiments on multimodal communication, plus neuro- and psycholinguistic experiments on attention and speech planning. Strong programming skills in Python, MATLAB, and/or R are expected, and a good command of Dutch or willingness to learn Dutch is requested.
Funding and contract: this is a 4-year temporary employment contract at 1.0 FTE. The gross monthly salary is listed as €4,925–€6,682 (salary scale 11), with an 8% holiday allowance, an 8.3% end-of-year bonus, and generous leave options.
Application: apply via the Radboud University vacancy page by 22 October 2026. Address the application letter to Linda Drijvers. First interviews are planned for 30 October, and the preferred start date is 1 January 2027.

What's required
Applicants must have a completed PhD in neurolinguistics, preferably on attentional trade-off to capture speech planning during comprehension. Required experience includes setting up and conducting RIFT-EEG experiments on multimodal communication and neuro- and psycholinguistic experiments focused on attention and speech planning during language comprehension. Strong programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB and/or R are required, along with strong interest in multimodal communication, gesture, language processing, and/or neurobiology of language. Experience with statistical modelling such as mixed models, regression, MVPA, or mTRFs is preferred, or a willingness to learn advanced methods. A good command of Dutch or willingness to learn Dutch is expected; familiarity with naturalistic stimuli and computational tools for motion and speech analysis is an asset.
How to apply
Apply only via the application button on the Radboud University vacancy page. Address your application letter to Linda Drijvers and include the documents requested in the application form. The first interviews are scheduled for Friday 30 October, and the preferred start date is 1 January 2027.
