About this position

Location information has played an important role in today’s mobile devices. Commonly used technologies including GPS and WiFi based location would experience low performance in bad radio propagation conditions, because GPS cannot work in indoor environments, and WiFi location has a poor accuracy when having limited reference data. In this project, we will address the above problem via data mining over mobile signals. We are particularly interested in two types of mobile data, 5G radio signal and personal movement signals. The former has a good availability in indoor environment; the latter is closely related to a person’s location and can be easily measured via mobile phone’s built-in sensors. We will explore data mining architectures to translate the above two types of mobile signal into location information.
