About this position
The University of Edinburgh Business School is accepting applications for its full-time, one-year MSc by Research in Management beginning in September 2027. The programme provides advanced training in management and business research, preparing students for doctoral study or research-related careers.
Students complete taught courses in research theory and methods, followed by a dissertation. Research may align with subject groups including Accounting and Finance, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Management Science and Business Economics, Marketing, Organisation Studies, and Strategy. Themes include climate change and sustainability, corporate finance, entrepreneurship, leadership, organisations and society, management science, financial services, FinTech, creative industries and digital tourism.
Applicants should hold a UK 2:1 undergraduate degree or international equivalent and demonstrate a strong fit between their proposed project and the School’s research expertise. The application requires a personal statement, research proposal of 1,000–1,500 words, academic documents, two references, English-language evidence and, where relevant, certified translations. Applicants are strongly advised to contact a potential supervisor with an up-to-date CV and draft proposal before applying.
The application deadline is 31 May 2027 for a 13 September 2027 start. There is no application fee. Funding is not automatically included, although applicants may explore Business School scholarships and other funding sources. Edinburgh graduates may qualify for a 10% tuition-fee discount, and postgraduate researchers may apply for dedicated programme funding for conferences or professional memberships.
