About this position

Master’s (M2) Research Internship in Immuno-Oncology at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH), in the Cytoskeleton and Cancer Progression (CCP) research group led by Prof. Clément Thomas.

The project focuses on how the actin cytoskeleton in tumor cells contributes to resistance to immune attack, with an emphasis on tumor immune evasion, the immunological synapse, high-resolution live-cell imaging, and quantitative microscopy. The group aims to identify novel therapeutic targets that could improve anticancer immunotherapies.

This is a six-month, full-time, fully on-site internship in Luxembourg. Compensation is 832€ gross/month plus lunch vouchers.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must be regularly enrolled in an M2 Master’s programme in biology, immunology, oncology, or a closely related discipline, and the internship must be a mandatory part of the degree. Prior laboratory experience in tumor immunology or cancer biology is strongly preferred, especially with tumor cell models and cytotoxic lymphocytes. Knowledge of microscopy, flow cytometry, cell culture, and tumor cell/immune cell co-culture experiments is desirable. Familiarity with the group’s published open-access work on tumor immune evasion will be assessed during interview.

Applications are reviewed immediately and on a rolling basis until the position is closed. Submit a motivation letter and CV via the LIH website. For further information, contact Prof. Clément Thomas at [email protected].

What's required

Enrollment in an M2 Master’s programme in biology, immunology, oncology, or a closely related discipline is required, and the internship must be a formal mandatory component of the degree. Previous hands-on laboratory experience in tumor immunology or cancer biology is strongly preferred, especially with tumor cell models and cytotoxic lymphocytes. Applicants should have solid foundational knowledge of tumor immunology and cancer biology, knowledge of cell biology techniques such as microscopy and flow cytometry, and desirable practical experience with cell culture and tumor cell/immune cell co-culture experiments. Candidates should also be familiar with the group’s published open-access articles on tumor immune evasion.

How to apply

Prepare a motivation letter and CV and submit them via the LIH website. Applications are reviewed immediately on a rolling basis until the position is closed. For questions, contact Prof. Clément Thomas by email.
