About this position

Doctoral Researcher position at the University of Luxembourg in Luxembourg focused on β-catenin ligands, Wnt signalling, and cell differentiation. The project sits within the FlexCAT programme and uses C2C12 myoblasts to study how context-specific peptidic ligands targeting β-catenin can restore aberrant differentiation.

The research combines cell biology, molecular biochemistry, fluorescence microscopy, bioluminescence/BRET biosensors, and signalling assays. The doctoral researcher will determine the impact of Wnt signalling on progenitor differentiation, develop BRET biosensors to measure intracellular protein-protein interactions, investigate peptidic ligands on Wnt/β-catenin signalling, and analyse cellular differentiation and β-catenin localisation.

Eligibility highlights: an MSc in Biochemistry, Developmental Biology, Biophysical Chemistry, or a related field with excellent results; good knowledge of molecular biochemistry and cell biology methods; basic cell-culture skills; and strong organisation and collaboration. Experience with cellular differentiation models is an asset. Excellent English is required, and applicants must satisfy the MSCA mobility rule and the thesis-language B2 requirement.

Funding: MSCA remuneration package with Living Allowance, Mobility Allowance, and Family Allowance if eligible, subject to social security and taxation. The position also offers international training, networking, conferences, and an interdisciplinary supervisory environment.

Application deadline: 1 October 2027. Applications must be submitted only via the FlexCAT Recruitment Portal; email applications are not accepted.

Funding details

What's required

MSc in Biochemistry, Developmental Biology, Biophysical Chemistry or a related field with excellent results and eligibility for doctoral admission. Applicants should have good knowledge of molecular biochemistry, fluorescence microscopy and/or bioluminescence experiments applied to cell biology, basic cell-culture skills, and preferably experience with cellular differentiation models. Strong project organisation, communication and collaborative skills are expected. Excellent English is required, and applicants must meet the MSCA mobility rule (normally no more than 12 months of residence/main activity in Luxembourg during the 36 months before recruitment). Applicants must also demonstrate at least B2-level proficiency in the language of their thesis.

How to apply

Apply exclusively through the FlexCAT Recruitment Portal. Select project DC11/Abankwa/Uni Luxemburg - Restoring aberrant cell differentiation with peptidic β-catenin ligands, then click Login to apply or register and complete the online application. Do not apply by email or other channels.
