About this position
University of the Western Cape (South Africa) is inviting applications for MSc, PhD, and Postdoctoral opportunities in the Department of Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Ajay Kumar Mishra.
The research program focuses on membrane technology and waste valorization, with related work in sustainable water treatment and desalination systems, advanced nanomaterials for filtration and separation, circular economy approaches for industrial and municipal waste, and environmental remediation and green chemistry innovations.
Eligible applicants should have a relevant Honours degree for MSc, a Master’s degree for PhD, or a PhD for postdoctoral consideration, in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or a related discipline. Strong academic performance, research potential, interest in experimental and interdisciplinary research, and good communication/scientific writing skills are expected. Experience in membrane fabrication, materials synthesis, or environmental research is an advantage. Preference will be given to South Africans and NRF bursary holders.
Funding includes SARChI-funded bursaries subject to approval and availability, plus access to advanced laboratory facilities and instrumentation in an internationally connected research group.
