The Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) and the University of Würzburg are offering one PhD and one postdoctoral position in the laboratories of Professors Franziska Faber and Jörg Vogel. The research project focuses on specialized metabolite functions during gut microbial interactions in Fusobacterium nucleatum, with funding from the DFG Priority Program SPP2474. The aim is to identify specialized metabolites and study their genetic regulation and functions during gut microbial interactions, contributing to the discovery of new gene functions in human microbiome members.

Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, or computational science. PhD candidates must hold a Master's degree or equivalent. The research environment is highly interdisciplinary, featuring vibrant RNA and infection research, state-of-the-art technologies, and a collaborative international atmosphere. The project is based in Würzburg, Germany, and offers a translational focus and access to the joint competence center 'Single-Cell Center Würzburg.'

The position is available for three years with the possibility of extension, and salary will be based on the German public sector pay scale (TV-L), commensurate with qualifications.
