About this position

The project combines microstructural characterisation, mechanical testing, and failure analysis, using techniques such as optical/electron microscopy, tensile testing, fatigue, creep, and fracture toughness testing.

This is described as an opportunity without funding. It is intended only for applicants eligible for, or intending to apply through, the Omani Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation scholarship pathway. No university, supervisor-held, or project-specific funding is available outside that pathway.

Eligibility highlights include a background in mechanical, materials, manufacturing, metallurgical, additive manufacturing, or closely related engineering fields; relevant research, lab, or industry experience is advantageous. Applicants should be prepared for hands-on laboratory work, specimen preparation, systematic testing, data analysis, independent problem-solving, and technical writing. English proficiency is expected, and TOEFL or IELTS scores should be submitted if available.
