Met2Adapt is recruiting PhD researchers for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Doctoral Network (Horizon Europe) focused on advanced meta-materials and meta-structures for renewable energy applications. The advertised opportunity at the National Technical University of Athens sits at the intersection of computational mechanics, machine learning, fracture mechanics, fatigue damage, and meta-material design.

The project aims to develop high-fidelity computational tools and data-driven methods for smart structural components used in offshore and onshore wind farms and wave-energy converters. Research themes across the network include meta-material development, AI-driven multi-scale and multi-physics modelling, autonomous monitoring technologies, and prognosis and uncertainty quantification.

For the Athens-based opening, the ideal candidate has a strong Master’s background in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Simulation Engineering, or a closely related field. Strong skills in computational solid mechanics, finite element modelling, fracture mechanics, and programming are expected. Experience with machine learning or surrogate modelling is considered an advantage. Good English skills and the ability to work in an international, multidisciplinary team are important.

The position is funded through a competitive MSCA fellowship and includes participation in the network’s training programme, with possible secondments at partner universities and industrial partners. The call is open to EU and international applicants, subject to eligibility conditions.
