About this position
Ghent University is advertising a PhD position in human-robot teamwork, human-robot collaboration, cobots, and Industry 5.0 within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration and the research group HRM, Strategy and Organization.
The project, supervised by Professor Gosia Kozusznik and Professor Greet Van Hoye, examines how human-robot teamwork is experienced in daily work and under which conditions it supports worker well-being and performance. The research aims to understand psychosocial processes such as how workers make sense of robots as colleagues, how they cooperate in routines, and when tensions or conflicts arise. A mix of quantitative and qualitative methods may be used, including experiments, questionnaires, interviews, and literature review.
The position is a full-time, four-year PhD in Business Economics, starting at the earliest on 1 February 2027. The contract begins with 1 year and can be extended by 3 years after positive evaluation. The monthly net wage is €2,714, and the fellowship is described as tax-free under the applicable regulations.
Applicants should have a relevant Master’s degree with a research-based thesis, strong academic results, good methodological and statistical skills, and experience with SPSS or R. Strong English and Dutch communication skills are required because surveys will be in both languages and participant contact will mostly be in Dutch. Final-year students may also apply, and non-EU diplomas require a NARIC equivalence certificate.
To apply, send a single PDF by email to [email protected] by 18 November 2026. Include a motivation letter, CV, diploma and grade lists, an English summary of your Master’s thesis, and two reference contacts. Interviews are planned on-site in Ghent on 16–17 December 2026.
