About this position

Bond University’s Bond Business School is inviting expressions of interest for a PhD in Business (Management) focused on ethical leadership, organisational behaviour, and business ethics. The project title is Antecedents and Consequences of Ethical Approaches to Organisational and Team Leadership.

The research examines what makes a leader ethical and how ethical leadership affects leaders, followers, and organisations. It includes a cross-sector comparison across project-based organisations, family businesses, banking, and the hospitality and tourism sectors. The project is designed to generate both theoretical and practical insights into leadership and organisational studies.

The doctoral thesis will be supervised by Dr. Ahmad Siddiquei (Principal Supervisor), Dr. Catharina Jecklin, Dr. Chelsea Gill, and Professor Amy Kenworthy at Bond University. The successful candidate will undertake rigorous qualitative and/or quantitative research, build methodological expertise, and contribute to academic publications.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a Business or Commerce Master by Research, or a Bachelor of Commerce/Business with Honours; have experience with a substantial research project (such as a Masters or Honours thesis); and demonstrate strong data analysis, academic writing, communication, teamwork, and project management skills. Desirable experience includes peer-reviewed publication, tutoring business students, and helping seek external funding.

Funding: the post mentions a tuition fee waiver via the Australian Government’s Research Training Program (RTP) for eligible Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents. Applicants may also apply for a Living Stipend Scholarship; the current full-time HDR stipend rate for 2026 is AUD 34,315 per annum. Tutoring or research assistant work may also be available, and industry internship opportunities are mentioned.

Location: the PhD must be undertaken full-time at Bond University’s Gold Coast campus in Australia.
