About this position

Bond University’s Bond Business School is inviting expressions of interest for a PhD in Business focused on management, accounting, finance, HRM, organisational behaviour, or a related discipline. The project examines the complex interplay between time pressure, leadership, safety, well-being, and performance in organisations. It is designed for candidates interested in how temporal demands and leadership behaviours shape employee well-being, workplace safety, decision-making, productivity, and organisational outcomes.

The research agenda is broad and interdisciplinary. It may explore how time pressure affects project managers and team members differently, how it influences financial decision-making, budgeting and forecasting accuracy, risk management, financial reporting behaviour, and investment decisions, and how governance mechanisms and organisational controls affect performance in accounting and finance functions. Cross-sector comparisons are also possible, including project-based organisations such as construction and information technology, as well as other dynamic work environments.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Dr. Ahmad Siddiquei (Principal Supervisor), Prof. Gulasekaran Rajaguru (Associate Supervisor), Dr. Shoeb Memon (Associate Supervisor), and Dr. Shamsun Nahar (Associate Supervisor). The project offers personalised supervision, access to Bond University facilities, and opportunities to contribute to high-quality academic publications.

Funding: The advert states that eligible Australian and New Zealand citizens and Australian permanent residents may receive a tuition fee waiver through the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP). Applicants may also apply for a Living Stipend Scholarship; the 2026 full-time stipend rate is listed as AUD 34,315 per annum. Additional employment opportunities such as tutoring or research assistant work may be available, and industry internship opportunities may also be possible.

Eligibility: Applicants should meet Bond University PhD entry requirements. A background in Business or Commerce at Master by Research level, or a Bachelor of Commerce/Business with Honours, is preferred. The advert also asks for evidence of a substantial research project, strong data analysis and academic writing skills, good communication and teamwork, and project management/organisational ability. The successful applicant must be based full-time at Bond’s Gold Coast campus.

Application window: Expressions of interest close on 2026-09-01. Applicants should submit their EOI via the Bond University application portal and include a statement of interest, a statement addressing selection criteria, CV with two academic referees, transcripts, and a sample of academic work.
