About this position
PhD opening in philosophy at École Normale Supérieure (ENS-PSL), Université PSL, Paris, within the Re-Contract research program hosted by Republic of Knowledge. The project focuses on the theory of the social contract, contemporary crises, social trust, and the governance of risk. This doctoral position specifically examines disinformation as a risk object, looking at how misinformation, epistemic security, prevention, moderation, inoculation, and related regulatory technologies transform a political and epistemic issue into a governable risk.
The research topic sits at the intersection of philosophy, social epistemology, political philosophy, sociology, and communication studies, with strong links to studies of disinformation and risk governance. The selected doctoral candidate will contribute to research activities in axis 1 of the Re-Contract program and also help organize scientific events and animation for the project.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a Master 2 in philosophy defended less than 3 years ago. A solid background in political philosophy and/or social epistemology is required, along with an interest in risk studies and openness to empirical work and regulatory frameworks. Strong English is expected. The call values the ability to build a doctoral project from an international state of the art and to work within a multidisciplinary setting.
