The project is part of the ERC Synergy project WHIRLS (The impact of ocean fine scale whirls on climate and ecosystems) and is linked to the Polar Gliders Research Group. The research combines existing field data from autonomous platforms and research ships, new glider missions, high-resolution model simulations, reanalysis data, and satellite products such as SWOT and PACE. The successful candidate may also participate in field experiments, research cruises, and remote piloting of autonomous platforms such as underwater gliders and uncrewed surface vehicles.

Eligibility: Applicants should hold a master’s degree in a relevant natural science subject and have at least 60 second-cycle credits in a relevant area. Relevant backgrounds include oceanography, meteorology, physics, maths, or a closely related field.
