PhD or Postdoc Position in Labor Economics, Education, Public Health, and Causal Inference at TU Dresden Technische Universität Dresden in Germany

Technische Universität Dresden is advertising a PhD or postdoc position at the Chair of Quantitative Methods, esp. Econometrics, in the Faculty of Business and Economics. The position is led by Prof. Kamila Cygan-Rehm and is centered on labor economics, education economics, public health, causal inference, econometrics, empirical economics, statistics, and policy evaluation.

The successful candidate will join a research group working with large-scale microdata and administrative datasets, including data from public agencies and large surveys. The chair’s research profile focuses on labor market, education, health, and population economics, with a strong emphasis on evaluating policy interventions using quasi-experimental and econometric methods.

This is a paid research position at 75% TV-L E13, initially fixed-term for 3 years, with the possibility of extension. The post includes opportunities for further qualification, participation in teaching, publication and conference activity, and support for research stays and international networking. Teaching is part of the role and can be done in English.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have a completed or nearly completed doctorate for the postdoc track, or a strong academic profile suitable for a PhD-level research appointment depending on the applicant profile. Strong quantitative skills in econometrics/statistics and experience with Stata, R, or Python are expected. Good English is important; good German is helpful but not necessarily required.
