About this position

PhD opportunity at the Functional Genomics & Metabolism Research Unit, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Southern Denmark, for a project titled Molecular Determinants of Adipose Tissue Lipoprotein Clearance.

The Ravnskjaer lab studies the molecular basis of cardiometabolic health using human biopsies, targeted gene disruption in preclinical models, single-cell transcriptomics, and bioimaging. The unit offers a well-resourced environment with facilities for flow cytometry, next-generation sequencing, single-cell transcriptomics, mass spectrometry, metabolomics, bioimaging, and transgenic mouse work, plus links to Odense University Hospital and other collaborators.

This opening is for an experimentalist with hands-on experience in adipose tissue biology or microvascular biology, mouse models, and an interest in lipid metabolism. FELASA B certification or similar is requested, and experience with liver biology, cell culture, mouse physiology, and adipose tissue imaging is an advantage. Strong communication skills and English proficiency are required.

The position is a three-year PhD (or four-year route for Master students via the 4+4 program). Funding includes a competitive salary and social benefits such as health coverage, parental leave, and social security. The holder of the scholarship may not have other paid employment during the three-year period.

Deadline: 2026-10-27. Applications must be submitted in English through the university’s online Apply now portal and should include a motivation letter, CV, diplomas/transcripts, and referee contact details.
