About this position
PhD position in glycochemistry at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (ICSN), CNRS, part of Université Paris-Saclay, in Gif-sur-Yvette, France.
The project focuses on the synthesis of N-acetyl-glucosamine analogues as therapeutic agents within the ANR Gb3Down project. The successful candidate will join the carbohydrate chemistry team in the Department of Chemical Biology and work under the supervision of the team leader, with joint supervision by two researchers.
Research topics include organic synthesis, carbohydrate chemistry, glycosylation, selective protection/deprotection strategies, and structural modification at the anomeric position, amino group, and hydroxyl groups. Compounds will be characterized using NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and HPLC, and biological activity will be evaluated with project partners in cellular assays and in vivo studies.
Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree (M2) in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification; specialization in organic synthesis and/or glycochemistry; experience in multi-step synthesis is strongly valued; basic French is required; and strong autonomy, rigor, teamwork, scientific writing, and oral presentation skills are expected.
Funding information: the position is a temporary full-time PhD contract (35 hours/week). No stipend amount is stated. The post is not funded by an EU programme.
