A fully funded Ph.D. position is available in the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing & Systems Engineering at Texas Tech University, co-advised by Dr. Nade Liang and Dr. Ningji Wei. The research focuses on the intersection of human factors, operations research, and data analytics, with applications to adaptive and persuasive technologies in complex, multi-agent systems. Students will work on advanced data analytics using high-volume datasets, robust decision models for stochastic environments, and human-in-the-loop experiments. The research group is particularly interested in human-automation interaction, perception and decision-making modeling, optimization under uncertainty, and network optimization.
Applicants should have a strong background in Operations Research, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Experience with programming languages, optimization solvers, and handling large datasets is essential. Effective communication skills in English are required. Preferred qualifications include research or job experience in control theory, aerospace or mechanical engineering, peer-reviewed publications, experience with time-series modeling, anomaly detection, prognostics, and human-in-the-loop systems. Prior research experience in human-subject experiments is also valued.
