The PhD student will receive a tuition waiver and a stipend via teaching and/or research assistantship. Applicants should have a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field (remote sensing, GIS, environmental science, geography, computer science, data science, math, or statistics), with a background in remote sensing, geospatial analysis, or computer science, and programming skills are preferred.

Interested candidates should email their CV to [email protected] and apply to the UMass Boston Environmental Sciences PhD program by February 1, 2026, listing Dr. Shijuan Chen as a potential advisor. For more information, visit the lab website or the program page.
