About this position

We are hiring a PhD Researcher in 7T Neuroimaging for a 4-year position (65%, TV-L E13) in the research group Neuroimaging and Interindividual Differences at IfADo – Leibniz Research Centre for Working Environment and Human Factors in Dortmund, Germany, with regular on-site work in Bonn.

The project, “Layers of imagination: Layer-specific pathways for constructing mnemonic and fictitious experiences”, is part of the DFG Research Unit Layers of Memory and is carried out in close collaboration with Prof. Dr. Cornelia McCormick at Universitätsklinikum Bonn. The research examines imagination, autobiographical memory, and the construction of internal scenes in the human medial temporal lobe.

Methodologically, the project uses multimodal 7T MRI and combines qMRI, diffusion MRI, and functional imaging with advanced laminar analysis to study how laminar microstructure and connectivity in the hippocampus and adjacent cortical regions relate to individual differences in imagination, memory performance, and functional MTL activity.

Applicants should hold a Master’s degree in neuroscience, psychology, biology, physics, engineering, computer science, or a comparable discipline. Experience with structural and functional MRI is expected, while familiarity with 7T MRI, diffusion imaging, qMRI, laminar analysis, Python, or MATLAB is an advantage.

Application deadline: 31 October 2026. Start: early 2027. How to apply: email your application to [email protected] and mention reference code FB Psycho 01/26. Please consult the attached job advertisement for full application details.
