About this position
The Department of Chemistry and Bioscience at Aalborg University, Denmark, is offering a fully funded PhD stipend to investigate the non-canonical functions of antibodies in neurological and psychiatric conditions. This interdisciplinary project is ideal for candidates interested in immunology, molecular biology, and neuroscience, and offers a unique international experience with up to 9 months of research at the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Science, Beijing, China. The research will focus on exploring potential enzymatic activities of immunoglobulins and their relevance in disease, contributing to a deeper understanding of their roles beyond traditional immune functions.
The project is part of a collaborative effort funded in part by the Sino-Danish Center, and candidates will benefit from working in a vibrant, international research environment. The position is for three years, starting from April 1, 2026, or as soon as possible thereafter. Applicants must have a relevant Master’s degree (biotechnology, molecular medicine, molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or related fields), excellent English communication skills, and a strong motivation for interdisciplinary and international collaboration. The PhD program includes coursework (30 ECTS), teaching or dissemination experience, and an external research stay, with the possibility of a double degree from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Salary and employment terms follow the Danish collective agreement for academic staff. The application deadline is February 24, 2026. For more information and to apply, visit the official job posting or contact Professor Peter Kristensen ([email protected]) for academic inquiries or Vigdis Skomager-Bohnfeldt ([email protected]) for administrative questions.
