About this position

A 4-year PhD studentship is available at the University of Bristol as part of the SWBio Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). The project focuses on using Proteolysis-Targeting Chimeras (PROTACs) and molecular modeling to investigate how tyrosine kinases regulate platelet signaling and function, with the aim of understanding complex signaling networks in anucleate cells. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience in targeted protein degradation, computational modeling, and platelet biology, working in a vibrant interdisciplinary environment.

The project is jointly supervised by Professor Ingeborg Hers, Dr Robin Corey, and Professor Varinder Aggarwal, offering a unique opportunity to collaborate across pharmacology, cell signaling, and chemical biology. The studentship provides full funding for UK/home students, including stipend, tuition, and research costs, with possible eligibility for international applicants. Applicants should have a strong background in biological sciences, biochemistry, pharmacology, or chemistry, and demonstrate interest or experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, or computational modeling.

The application deadline is December 3, 2025, for a start in September 2026. For further details and to apply, visit the SWBio DTP website.
