About this position
This postdoctoral position at the University of Miami joins a research program in regenerative medicine for diabetes with a strong emphasis on pancreatic tissue physiology, spatial biology, and in vivo imaging. The successful candidate will work within a laboratory environment focused on understanding endocrine cell function in pancreatic tissue and using advanced experimental approaches to study and manipulate human and mouse samples.
The role involves direct experimental work with human and mouse pancreatic slices, including tissue procurement, culture, manipulation, and viral transduction for genetic labeling, reporter expression, and functional studies. The project also includes design and execution of spatial transcriptomics experiments using the Visium HD and Xenium platforms, along with analysis and integration of the resulting datasets.
The postdoc will also carry out calcium imaging and other physiological assays to evaluate endocrine cell function, as well as high-end intravital imaging in mouse models. Quantitative image processing and analysis will be performed using Volocity software. In addition to hands-on experimental research, the position includes manuscript preparation, contribution to grant applications and progress reports, and presentation of findings at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and scientific conferences.
The appointment is described as a first-year postdoctoral research role under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, with a research scope that combines tissue biology, spatial profiling, and advanced imaging in a university-based medical research setting.

Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, tuition remission and more.
What's required
Ph.D. in Regenerative Medicine is required, with doctoral research conducted in the context of diabetes. The degree must have been conferred within the 12 months preceding the appointment start date, or the candidate must have successfully defended the doctoral thesis even if the degree has not yet formally been awarded. Applicants must be recent Ph.D. graduates with no prior postdoctoral training and at least 3 publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals (first authorship not required). Required experience includes hands-on work with procurement, culture, and manipulation of human and mouse pancreatic slices including viral transduction; spatial transcriptomics using Visium HD and Xenium; calcium imaging and other physiological techniques; high-end intravital imaging; and Volocity software. Strong data analysis, problem-solving, scientific writing, and presentation skills are expected.
