About this position
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate in Lung Transplant Immunology to join the Section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine in Houston, Texas.
The NIH-funded research program investigates the immunologic mechanisms underlying chronic lung allograft dysfunction, with particular emphasis on type I interferon signaling, regulatory T cell biology, and virus-host interactions. The researcher will study mechanisms of chronic rejection using murine models of lung transplantation, precision-cut lung slices, and in vitro immune cell co-culture systems.
The project combines experimental transplant immunobiology with advanced analysis of high-dimensional datasets. The postdoctoral associate will work with flow cytometry, bulk and single-cell RNA sequencing, and spatial transcriptomics, using R or Python to evaluate and interpret findings. Additional experimental areas include regulatory T cell isolation and suppression assays, NETosis induction, and viral infection modeling in transplant settings.
Responsibilities include designing and conducting specialized experiments, developing research protocols, preparing figures and manuscripts, contributing to grant proposals, and presenting findings at seminars and scientific meetings. The role also involves laboratory operations, coordination with imaging and sequencing core facilities, compliance with IACUC and biosafety requirements, and mentorship and technical training of junior laboratory members, graduate students, and visiting scholars.
The position provides a research environment centered on pulmonary medicine, transplantation, immunology, molecular profiling, and biomedical discovery at Baylor College of Medicine.
