About this position
The AIMCardio Lab at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is hiring two postdoctoral researchers to work on cutting-edge problems at the intersection of cardiovascular biomechanics, artificial intelligence, and translational medicine. The project environment brings together computational and experimental fluid-structure interaction, cardiovascular flow modeling, digital health, and AI-driven approaches to study diseases of the cardiovascular system and develop next-generation medical technologies.
The postdoc will join a highly interdisciplinary research group in WPI’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, with access to state-of-the-art computational and experimental facilities. The lab’s work connects fundamental fluid mechanics and multiphysics modeling with real-world applications in cardiovascular diseases and medical devices. Research in the group spans advanced flow visualization, computational modeling, and scientific machine learning, offering the chance to contribute to both methodological development and translational impact.
The laboratory also maintains collaborations with major hospitals, medical centers, and medical device companies, creating a research setting that bridges academic analysis, clinical relevance, and technology development. Collaborators mentioned include the Hospital for Sick Children, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Abbott, Edwards Lifesciences, Boston Scientific, and Medtronic.
The position is designed for researchers with strong expertise in fluid mechanics, FSI/CFD/FEA, or scientific machine learning who want to work in an interdisciplinary environment focused on cardiovascular applications and innovative biomedical solutions.
