About this position
This postdoctoral appointment at Saint Louis University centers on synthetic carbohydrate chemistry, with the fellow conducting research projects that advance new problems and developments in carbohydrate chemistry as the project demands. The work is rooted in organic chemistry and solid-supported synthesis, and the successful candidate will contribute directly to ongoing laboratory research through multistep synthesis, reaction execution, and product analysis.
The fellow’s primary role is to carry out organic reactions aligned with project goals on a regular, consistent basis, while keeping the principal investigator informed of progress and maintaining an accurate laboratory notebook. The position also includes participating in project discussions, responsibly sharing laboratory resources, assisting with publications and presentations, and helping to maintain a clean and safe synthetic lab environment.
The role also has a teaching- and mentoring-adjacent component: the fellow will co-supervise graduate students pursuing degrees in synthetic organic chemistry. This places the appointment within an active research setting where the postdoctoral researcher contributes both to laboratory output and to the development of graduate researchers.
The research environment is within Saint Louis University, a Catholic university recognized for research and academics and described in the posting as a welcoming community committed to service, belonging, and scholarly excellence.
