About this position
Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, Portugal is offering a full-time post-doctoral fellowship in the Champalimaud Research Program, within the project “Crosstalk between cancer and the nervous system via interoception” (CGC - InteroCANCEption), supported by Cancer Research UK (CRUK) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
The postdoctoral researcher will join the Immunophysiology group and work at the intersection of neuroscience, immunology, metabolism, cancer, and biological circuits. The team is especially interested in candidates with experience in cellular and molecular networks underlying tissue health and disease, and a strong research profile in cancer immunology, cancer neuroscience, or circuit neuroscience.
The position is based at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown, a modern research and clinical environment with strong interdisciplinary interaction and access to advanced facilities, including light microscopy, flow cytometry, genetic tools, ultra-high-field magnetic resonance imaging, and model organism infrastructure. English is the working language at the Centre.
The appointment offers an international competitive salary plus benefits, with an initial duration of 12 months and the possibility of renewal until the end of the project. The call is open to national, foreign, or stateless candidates holding a PhD in biology, life sciences, or related scientific areas, together with an appropriate scientific and professional background.
Applicants are expected to have expertise in cellular and molecular biology, extensive experience with genetically modified mouse models, and hands-on skills in flow cytometry, cell transplantation, and high-resolution confocal microscopy analysis. Strong teamwork, communication, scientific adaptability, and independent problem-solving are valued. Candidates with foreign degrees may need formal recognition in Portugal.
Applications must be submitted through the standard online form together with a single PDF containing a CV, motivation letter, and two references. The call reference Postdoc_HVF_Oct2026 must be included. Applications are accepted until 27 November 2026 at 17:00 (Europe/Lisbon).
