About this position
The School of Public Policy at the University of California, Riverside is seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join a research program on the economics of water and wastewater treatment in California. Working under the supervision of Principal Investigator Dr. Kurt Schwabe, the fellow will contribute to research that connects water conservation, water quality, affordability, and pricing with policy analysis.
The project combines water and wastewater economics with hydro-economic modeling and policy evaluation. The successful candidate will develop and apply mathematical programming and process models within a dynamic stochastic optimization framework to test alternative scenarios involving water policy, changing natural and economic conditions, water quality and influent characteristics, flow regimes, water allocation, and climate conditions.
The position is embedded in a collaborative research environment at UCR and offers strong opportunities for co-authorship on academic publications. The fellow will work with faculty, graduate students, and external partners, and will contribute to peer-reviewed manuscripts, presentations, and proposal development.
Research activities include empirical and policy-relevant analysis, large dataset management, and modeling work that supports broader project goals. The appointment is based at UC Riverside in Riverside, California.
