About this position
Post Doctoral Scholar - Biomedical Informatics at The Ohio State University
This is a full-time postdoctoral research opportunity in the Department of Medicine, Division of Biomedical Informatics, located on the Columbus Campus at The Ohio State University. The scholar will work under the mentorship of Dr. Ying Wang on advanced research training in statistical genetics, genetic epidemiology, and longitudinal biobank research.
The project focuses on the genetic architecture of disease onset, progression, multimorbidity, and clinical outcomes using large-scale genomic data, electronic health records, and longitudinal cohort resources. Research directions may include common- and rare-variant association studies, survival and longitudinal analysis, multi-state disease modeling, polygenic risk prediction, gene-environment interaction, cross-population analysis, and integration of genomic and EHR data.
The postdoc will also have opportunities to work with the Global Biobank Meta-Analysis Initiative and collaborate with investigators across The Ohio State University and other national and international institutions. Depending on experience and project readiness, the scholar may lead projects and serve as primary analyst and lead author on cross-biobank studies.
Eligibility highlights include a doctoral degree in a relevant quantitative discipline such as biostatistics, statistical genetics, bioinformatics, computational biology, biomedical informatics, or epidemiology. Applicants should have strong experience with statistical genomics or related quantitative methods, proficiency in R and/or Python, Unix/Linux computing experience, and the ability to handle large genomic or clinical datasets. Preferred experience includes genome-wide or rare-variant studies, survival analysis, multi-state modeling, polygenic risk scores, high-performance computing, reproducible workflows, and collaborative consortium research.
This position provides mentorship in project development, manuscript preparation, scientific presentations, grant writing, and building an independent research program. The role is a term (fixed-term) appointment and includes comprehensive employee benefits. No application deadline is stated in the posting.
