About this position

University Hospital Würzburg is advertising a Postdoc position in CAR T-cell Engineering for Immunotherapy in Cardiovascular Inflammation (m/f/d) at the Chair for cellular immunotherapy / Medical Clinic and Polyclinic II (ZIM).

This is a postdoctoral research opening in cardiovascular inflammation, immunology, immune-cell engineering, and translational medicine. The project is EU-funded and focuses on developing and evaluating novel CAR T-cell-based therapeutic strategies for cardiovascular disorders. The role combines experimental research with project management in a highly interdisciplinary and international environment.

The successful candidate will design, coordinate, and conduct studies using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo models; apply flow cytometry, immune-cell phenotyping, transcriptomics, and single-cell RNA sequencing; and contribute to publications, conference presentations, and grant applications. In addition, the postdoc will manage day-to-day scientific and administrative tasks, coordinate milestones and reporting, liaise with project partners and funding agencies, and mentor students and junior researchers.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD in Life Sciences, Immunology, Cardiovascular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field; strong experimental background in inflammation research and cardiovascular disease models; and excellent English communication skills. Experience with cellular and molecular biology, immune-cell engineering, flow cytometry, transcriptomics, or animal models is highly desirable. For applicants with a non-EU degree, a long version of the certificate evaluation from the Central Office for Foreign Education is required.

Funding and conditions: full-time, temporary position with possibility of extension; salary according to TV-L including annual special payment. The post is part of a prestigious EU-funded research project and offers training, continuing education, retirement pension plan, daycare support, sports program, flexible working hours, JobBike, and corporate benefits.

Application deadline: 2026-07-20.
