About this position
DTU Electro is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for the EPIC project, “Electronic-Photonic Integration for Energy-Efficient Information Processors,” at the Technical University of Denmark in Kgs. Lyngby.
The project develops thin-film lithium niobate photonic circuits with custom CMOS electronic control chips flip-chip bonded to the photonic devices. The research addresses the temperature and fabrication sensitivity of cavity-based electro-optic modulators by integrating sensing and feedback control into the electronics, supporting stable, scalable photonic circuits for energy-efficient information processing.
The postdoctoral researcher will lead the electronics side of the project, designing analog and mixed-signal circuits for sensing, control and stabilization, as well as RF driver circuits for GHz-rate electro-optic modulation. The work spans circuit specification, verified layout, tapeout and silicon validation. The researcher will also co-design the electrical and optical interfaces of the bonded assembly to reduce capacitance and crosstalk, develop test boards and automated measurement systems, and characterize the assembled devices.
The role brings together Professor Per Lynggaard’s IC design team and Associate Professor Mikkel Heuck’s photonics team, with collaboration alongside a PhD student working on electronic-photonic co-design. The project is connected with DTU Nanolab and includes opportunities to mentor BSc, MSc and PhD students in an international research environment within DTU Electro.
