About this position
The Department of Experimental Diabetology at the German Institute of Human Nutrition (DIfE) and the Junior Research Group Epigenetics of Obesity and Diabetes are recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join a computationally focused project on how obesity and type 2 diabetes reshape the epigenome. The work aims to identify disease-associated genes and epigenetic alterations and to understand how interventions such as intermittent fasting, endurance training, and bariatric surgery can influence these molecular changes.
The position sits within a research environment that combines experimental and clinical nutrition research with translational analysis. The team uses lean and obese mouse models and validates findings in humans, offering a strong interface between wet-lab biology and computational interpretation. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory scientists to turn biological questions into integrative analyses across multiple layers of omics data.
The postdoc will be expected to perform end-to-end analysis pipelines, including quality control, data integration, regulatory network inference, and interpretation of multiome datasets. The role emphasizes advanced computational and statistical approaches for multi-layer biological data, together with the production of clear visualizations, reports, and written summaries to communicate findings effectively.
The department and junior research group provide access to excellent technical equipment, a wide range of experimental methods, and a dynamic, interactive research setting. The advertised post is within the German Institute of Human Nutrition, a Leibniz Association member institution based in Potsdam-Rehbrücke, Germany.
